SDC Technologies Announces Largest Expansion in Company History with New Global Headquarters and Innovation Hub in Rancho Santa Margarita, California

Irvine, CA – November 12, 2025

SDC Technologies (SDC), a global leader in high-performance specialty coatings, is proud to announce the expansion and relocation of its Group Headquarters to a new, state-of-the-art facility in Rancho Santa Margarita, California. Scheduled for completion in Q4 2026, this move marks the largest expansion in SDC’s history, reflecting the company’s long-term growth strategy and commitment to innovation.

Backed by parent company Mitsui Chemicals, Inc. (MCI), the project involves a major investment to acquire and redevelop land and facilities previously owned by IMI CCI. This strategic investment will dramatically enhance SDC’s capabilities, driving significant growth in key areas such as research and development (R&D), manufacturing, warehousing, and customer-driven innovation, positioning the company for long-term success and industry leadership.

Facility Overview: A Strategic Investment in Growth and Innovation

New Office Exterior (Planned)

Situated on a 6.82 acre campus, the new 124,044 square foot mixed-use facility is designed to support SDC’s future growth and the expanding needs of Mitsui Chemicals’ U.S. operations. The facility will integrate office space, warehousing, production lines, R&D laboratories and a cutting-edge Innovation Center including:

  • Major expansion of coating and equipment manufacturing capabilities
  • Significant increase in R&D capacity to support advanced product development and vertical integration
  • A state-of-the-art Innovation Center for customer engagement, technology demonstrations, and collaborative innovation
  • Enhanced technical support, application labs, and product testing facilities
  • Scalable warehousing and logistics infrastructure to support global distribution and supply chain resilience
  • Equipped with solar panels, expected to generate most of the site’s electricity requirements
